Bihar govt to give Rs 25,000 to 'Vikas Mitras' for tablets; hikes transport and stationery allowance

Patna:

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday announced that each 'Vikas Mitra' working under the 'Bihar Mahadalit Vikas Mission' will receive a lump sum of Rs 25,000 to purchase a tablet. Additionally, he said that both transport and stationery allowances for the workers have been increased, in a bid to strengthen welfare outreach at the grassroots.

In an X post, the Chief Minister said that the tablet will help 'Vikas Mitras' to conveniently maintain data of beneficiaries of various welfare schemes and perform other related tasks.

"Following the principle of development with justice, our government is continuously working for the upliftment of the deprived sections of society. Vikas Mitras play an important role in ensuring that various development and welfare schemes of the government reach the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities. Keeping this in mind, it has been decided to provide a lump sum amount of Rs 25,000 to each Vikas Mitra working under the Bihar Mahadalit Vikas Mission for the purchase of a tablet, so that they may conveniently maintain data of beneficiaries of various welfare schemes and perform other related tasks," said Kumar.

Transport allowance Rs 2,500 per month

Additionally, the transport allowance for Vikas Mitras has been increased from Rs 1,900 per month to Rs 2,500 per month, and the stationery allowance from Rs 900 to Rs 1,500, said the Chief Minister, adding that this will help them during field visits as well as in collecting documents.
